The Garage Sale

The last week has been life's pay back for all the "stuff" we've collected over the years.  Our weather here has been in the 100's and I spent 5 days of my vacation sorting, organizing, thinking about, remembering, and looking at some things I hadn't seen for over 20 years.  Amazing how much we had accumulated and put into the garage sale.

Saturday and Sunday up at 5:30 a.m. for the garage sale and filled a huge circular drive way with things to sell and spent two days working so hard (we had part time help from 3 young men) organizing, pulling things out, putting things away and then at the end -- sorting for Goodwill and what is going to the auction.  Hard to believe we still have about 1/3 of our shop (this is a building that is 24 ft. x 40 ft.) to go through.  We will end up having one more, last and final, garage sale.

Both of these days ended up being over 10 hour work days.  I could barely walk at the end of the days and took Tylenol, ate something and fell asleep by 7:30 p.m. (this is from a night owl).  Total exhaustion.

We have the lady from the consignment store coming on Wednesday to look at our vintage or antique things.  Hope to get furniture carted off to her store later this week.  We are hoping the things sell because we do not want them back.

Progress is being seen.  Our downstairs is almost empty.  Several closets have been gone through.  It is good that we are moving forward.

We just had our home sale fall through at the last minute, so we're starting again.  May relist for another 3 months.  After that we'll see.  Maybe do some work around here, rent, or who knows.

We are getting some keepers into our storage unit we just rented.  I hope we can end up keeping a manageable amount and that it will all fit.

During all of this chaos, heat, hard work -- and this huge pressure/rush was all due at the eminent sale -- our son came from Missouri for a 2 1/2 week visit.  He had a goofy, psycho, rude (I will forego any other descriptions) friend come and stay too, so that added to stress.

So we are happy to have this Sunday to enjoy, rest and not work.  I've had 2 1/2 weeks of vacation and will return to work tomorrow.  I may be happy to go and sit at my desk and not be sweating and in shop dust.  We will start back with more sorting, etc. next week, but not at such a harried pace.  Progress, sweet progress.  We are getting there.
